A Little Summer Chronicle
Summer is here with its heat, thunderous rains, and numerous festivals in Montreal. It’s also the period that, theoretically, is the calmest at the office. Between lunches or drinks on the terrace, we take advantage of this time to catch up on various projects or tasks that we had somewhat set aside. It’s the perfect time for that.
This summer is a bit special at MIV as we are in the strategic planning period. We have already met with many of you to discuss upcoming challenges that could affect you and the entire ecosystem. Without revealing the outcome of this ongoing process, I have already noted some trends that didn’t appear as strongly in previous exercises. For example, the potentially changing political situation in Canada and the United States seems to worry several of you, as does the apparent decline in our provincial government’s interest in our sector. We will need to collectively address these issues (among others).
I have also heard about opportunities for sector actors to seize. Notably, there is a need to focus on social innovation in health, prevention and health promotion in the field of chronic diseases, the increased use of artificial intelligence applied to our field, considering inclusivity and sustainable development more, and finally, leveraging EFFERVESCENCE even more to promote our sector both locally and internationally. These are exciting avenues for the Montreal InVivo team and governance to explore.
We will continue this process, which will lead us to a new strategic plan in December. But until then, I would be curious to know your own perceptions of upcoming challenges and opportunities. Feel free to share them in the comments or in person after the holidays.
Until then, I wish you all a wonderful summer.
