It’s time to reflect on the year. Well, not quite yet—the full report will be published in a few months, ahead of the Annual General Meeting. However, it’s still the perfect moment to look back and celebrate all that has been accomplished since January 2024.
And accomplishments, there were plenty—and we’re proud of them! Despite a year marked by challenges, particularly related to staffing transitions in 2024, Montréal InVivo leveraged these changes to keep moving forward. While these transitions temporarily impacted certain projects, workloads, and team cohesion, they also allowed us to bring on board high-quality talent that will enhance our energy and vision for the future. I want to tip my hat to those who ensured a smooth transition and to the newcomers who tackled steep learning curves at an accelerated pace. Thank you, sincerely, to each and every one of you.
Adding to these changes, 2024 was also the year we prepared our new strategic plan for 2025–2027. You can imagine the additional workload for many team members deeply involved in this demanding yet crucial process for our organization and the ecosystem we support.
I’d like to take this opportunity to highlight a few of the year’s accomplishments that had a direct impact on the life sciences and health technologies ecosystem in Montréal and across Quebec:
- Take Momentum PI, for example, the federal grant program for intellectual property (IP) protection that we manage for the life sciences sector. In 2024 alone, 65 companies in the sector benefited from this support, helping them establish strategies or protect their IP. Not a bad impact, right?
- Or consider the more than 150 students who had the chance to meet and engage with professionals from the sector to guide them toward exciting, in-demand careers in LSHT. A big thank you to the sector experts who generously gave their time to inspire the next generation.
- We also launched the events component of the AReNA initiative in 2024. Through these events, companies and researchers in the therapeutic RNA field have been—and will continue to be—able to forge strong connections, aiming to develop this vital industrial sector for Quebec.
I’ll stop there to keep this post from getting too long. But as I look ahead to 2025, I already see the implementation of the new strategic plan, the launch of new projects awaiting funding decisions, the political landscape in Canada and the United States, the arrival of new team members, and much more.
One thing is clear: it’s going to be another busy year!
