This presentation will focus on the many challenges facing clinical trials in the field of Oncology but with the perspective of a patient going through this journey. This is not meant to be a patient’s testimonial but a discussion on how complex clinical trials for patients with a life-threating condition can be and how decisions from the Sponsor can have a real impact of the patient’s experience in the trial.

We will look at how consent forms sometimes read like a PhD level thesis, how accelerating start-up timelines for studies can have a real impact on a patient’s inclusion in a trial, how the face of cancer has changed, how the squeaky wheel gets the oil (big hospital versus small centers settings), the burden of some of the trial assessments, what happens to the patient after the trial and much more.

“Please join me in this open discussion of the challenges we face and how we can make things better for the patients.” – Caroline
